Sandra Evans
Principal/Project Director
Sandra has over fifteen
years experience developing visual communications for broadcast,
print, web and new media. Her experience in business development,
management, marketing and operations as well as managing projects,
clients and teams includes projects and staff positions with such
companies as BGDI, Piston Creative Consortium, Warmack Design,
Steve Michelson Productions, Realtime Film & Video, XAOS,
Inc., and Total Video/TotalNet. Sandra's eclectic experience includes:
promoting an interactive exhibit, producing media for trade shows
and meetings as well as collaborating with some of the leading
talent in the Bay Area to develop graphics and print.
Sandra is the Principal
of & Associates and is responsible for managing the creative
and tactical execution as well as providing a liaison to the team
to achieve deadlines and project goals. She holds a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Broadcast with an emphasis in Television Production
from SFSU. Sandra enjoys the diverse Bay Area with its theatre,
culinary, art, music and outdoors activities.
Robert Mayfield
Software and Web Architect – Web client, server and
Web services
Rob has spent the last
18 years designing and developing in-house and commercial software
for a variety of industries and client. His client list includes
Harris Corp, Cisco, Lockheed and Motorola among others. Since
1995 he has focused his attention on the Java language and specifically
Web based projects. He has headed architectural and developmental
roles at various firms including Hewlett-Packard, Autodesk, IMSI,
Food.com and Avinon, Inc. He has been a presenter and panelist
at JavaOne and other trade shows, drawing on his expertise in
the Web, object design, J2EE and more recently Web Services arena.
He has also been involved in setting/reviewing standards
in Web Services and electronic medical records.
Rob holds a B.S. in Physics and a Masters degree in Neurobiology.
Since college, Rob has had a strong interest in researching the
brain, artificial intellegence and medicine. He has
recently initiated a project to gather patient medical records
for a medical outcomes database. He is also working on plans for
an Open Source Electronic Medical Records software package.
Alan Powell
Creative/Project Leadership
Alan has always had great creative
instincts. He reached "pop star" status back in Manchester, when
he was fifteen years old by marketing and managing bands and playing the drums
in numerous bands back in his native England (Ivans Meads, The Richard Kent Style,
Vinegar Joe and Chicken Shack, the legendary English blues band). He later
played in and wrote several songs for Robert Palmer's band. A gifted songwriter
and writer, he moved to San Francisco in 1979 and has the unique distinction of
being the only member of & Associates who has played in nearly every major
San Francisco music venue with "Joe Allen and The Shapes" and "The
Fontana's." He's penned songs for Robert Palmer, Rachel Sweet, and his tune,
"Life in Detail" was featured in the hit movie "Pretty Woman."
He hails from an area in northern
England (Manchester), where people are known for their gritty, down-to-earth sense
of humor and their searing wit. He's responsible for project management,
public relations, and creative development.
Barbara Levy
Qualitative Researcher/Focus Group Moderator
Barbara has over twenty years experience as a market research professional,
supporting many leading advertising agencies and working directly
with major corporations. She has specialized in qualitative research
for over fifteen years, conducting focus groups, in depth interviews
and web site usability studies.
Barbara has conducted research with a wide range of populations
including, seniors, children, teens, CEO's, CFO's, IT professionals.
Her clients have included: Apple Computers, 3-Com, Autodesk, IBM,
Allstate Insurance, Thai Kitchen, Talbots, Levis Strauss & Company,
Electronic Arts, Franklin Covey Training and Collagen
Corporation.
Barbara holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology.
Tom Caldecott
Writer
Tom has been an advertising
writer and strategist for more than 17 years. In that time, he
has helped develop messaging and has written materials such as
print ads, radio spots, brochures, direct mail, ad slicks, data
sheets, videos, web site content and speeches for a wide variety
of businesses. His clients have included schoolpalm.com, Creative-i
(ad agency for Hewlett-Packard, FusionOne and ACCPAC), Commerce
One, Sendmail, InfoWorld, CustomerCast, Ascend, 3Com, Pixo, Plextor,
Diamond Morgan Northend Albers Inc. (ad agency for IDG, Concentric
and BackWeb), Advantage, Inc. (printer service company), Orban,
Chiron Critical Care, Ink Jet Technologies (printer head manufacturer),
Schaub and Company (design firm), Del Monte, Catalytica Fine Chemicals,
Envirotest, and the San Jose Mercury News. A Bay Area native,
Tom has an undergraduate degree in theatre from the University
of the Pacific and a Master's degree in journalism from the University
of Nevada, Reno. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with
his family and performing in local plays and operas.
Kristen Anderson
Event Manager
Kristen Anderson is
an experienced event planner and trade show manager with over
seven years experience specializing in medical and high-tech industries.
Kristen's background includes organization of corporate trade
shows, educational symposia, client entertainment events, company
team building, fund raisers and hospitality suites. Clients include:
Acuson, Agilent, G.E. Intel, Johnson & Johnson and McKinsey
and Company. In her spare time, she is an avid mountain biker
and hiker with several peaks under her belt including: Mt. Whitney,
Mt. Kilamanjaro and Mt. Everest base camp.
Kristell Mazzuco
Production
Kristell Mazzuco is
an award-winning producer, specializing in the management of meetings,
and large-scale productions for major corporations. Kristell brings
the expertise of a 25-year career in management, marketing communications,
media design and production; which includes extensive experience
with corporate meetings, trade shows, special events and live
satellite multi-camera interactive events. Clients include: American
Century Investments, NASA, Handspring, American Bar Association,
SGI, San Jose Convention and Visitorâs Bureau, Viacom, Novell,
IBM, Genentech, Oracle and Greenview Creative. Kristell's outside
interests include development of original programming for television,
a passion for iTV (interactive television technologies) and working
with several non-profit charitable organizations. In her spare
time Kristell is also a gourmet cook, an avid water-skier and
is in an advanced level of Ikebana (Japanese Flower Making).
Herbert U. Ferrette, II
Consultant
Herb is an award winning editor
with 30 years experience in the communications industry. He is experienced in
film, video and multimedia formats for the broadcast, corporate and educational
fields. He's a seven-time Regional Emmy winner and has been nominated several
times for the National Emmy for documentaries and news programs. He's also edited
and managed post-production for some of the leading producers in the Bay Area.
While on staff at KQED-TV he's edited programs that have aired nationally on WGBH-TV,
Discovery Channel and MSNBC. He has been involved with post-production and the
supervision and editing of news and corporate communications since 1982. He holds
a Bachelor of Arts in Communicationsfrom Loyola University New Orleans, LA. He's
also done graduate work in Educational Technology with an emphasis in Children's
programming. Herb is a project consultant for & Associates.
